There's just no incentive to calculate what things cost - since everything gets paid for and no questions asked. There's no incentive for economic efficiency. Does then the NHS need a complete rebuild - to survive?

Well, no - unlikely. Like the role of a virus is to keep their host alive while it feeds off it, Big Pharma has a similar interest in the NHS. Costs in the service have risen for sure - but now this is the age of the pill - their pills.
