The Climate and Nature Bill has been voted on in the UK's parliament in an unusually well-attended debate. The bill wasn't voted for or against - instead, the vote - by 120 to 7 - was to adjourn it until July.

WHY CAN BILL WAS ADJOURNED

One problem with the CAN Bill is - a “Citizens’ Assembly” would transfer policy decisions from an elected to an unelected body. This is not how the rule of law works - which is good to be reminded of.

The gov't listened to the Climate and Nature Bill - but said no to having it pass into legislation. One of the reasons was - politicians would have had to take instructions from people who were unelected.
