Public control is not public ownership. We already have the control - in theory, at least - it's called regulation. Is it right that our lives should enrich already wealthy shareholders? Time to rehink our assets?

A community service like Amazon - a community asset - there's an argument for it to be community owned - like the railways and water companies. Could we done with the current corporate model?

Perhaps all infrastructure businesses - as in the railways and water - should be citizen owned. That is CITIZEN owned rather than gov't owned. That way, citizens get to see the accounts and keep the profits.

This then is another example of the country's asset - car parks - being owned and run by a foreign based enterprise. Should such assets be owned by the citizens - and simply contracted out to capable operators?

The idea of private enterprise running the people's services did have an attraction over gov'ts trying it. Both systems have failed. So is it time now for a hybrid system. The People own - and run - the services?
